Exciting news! One of our own, Georgina G. Castillo has been nominated for the Excellence in Education Award with the Southern Arizona Education Council.

Georgina has spent 35 years in education, with 30 of those at Van Buskirk. As a two-way dual language kindergarten teacher, she loves helping students grow in both English and Spanish. When asked about the nomination, she said, “I’m humbled. I love what I do, and I love our community.”

Principal Victoria Barajas shared, “Georgina is not only an excellent teacher, but she supports others and helps grow bilingual, biliterate students who will thrive in the future.”
